We offer full-time, part-time and casual positions, and many of our team members are involved in their own farming enterprises or other pursuits. We see this as a strength, bringing experience, initiative and a genuine connection to rural life. Abrupt Plains Pastoral – Bunnugal House Accommodation
Location: Dunkeld, Victoria, Australia
Position Title: Housekeeping Supervisor

Each year, Abrupt Plains Pastoral welcomes a small number of backpackers to join our team and experience life on a working sheep farm in regional Victoria.

Our backpackers bring energy, curiosity and fresh perspectives to our business.

Previous farming experience is not essential, but a positive attitude, willingness to learn and a genuine interest in rural life are a must.

We provide hands-on training across all aspects of farm operations, including sheep handling, feeding, fencing, yard work, lambing support and general property maintenance.

We aim to create an experience that is both rewarding and memorable — a place where people can learn new skills, become part of our team and experience authentic Australian farm life.

Our goal is for people to arrive as employees and leave as friends, taking home lasting memories, practical skills and a true appreciation for life on the land.

We also encourage our team to become part of the local community, whether that’s helping at the local swimming pool, joining the CFA, or getting involved with the local football and netball clubs.

Abrupt Plains

Working for Abrupt Plains Pastoral was one of the best experiences of my time in Australia. I felt so welcomed from day one and learnt so many new skills which I am excited to take back home with me. The work was rewarding, the scenery was incredible and the people quickly felt like family”
